notes:
-joe strummer could still write songs even up to the end. that song was pretty great.
-got a couple hecklers over the kronos quartet. someone saying that it wasn't real music and that I should "play more punk." silly close-minded people.
-matmos was in town on october 15 for a colloquim at the princeton music department. I had a chance to interview them beforehand. unfortunately, the first 5-10 minutes of the interview were lost in a tragic minidisk accident. but the rest was still very interesting. martin schmidt and drew daniel are both remarkably intelligent. I may post a transcript of the interview here if I get some time. the songs listed after the interview were actually interspersed between sections of it.
-I had a chance to improvise with gerry hemmingway the day before this show for a class on improvisation that I'm in. definitely one of the more fun/rewarding musical experiences I've ever had.
-other than that, no real comments. some good songs individually, but as a whole, today's show just didn't seem to work quite right.
